Taxonomy
Pecten pustulosus was named by Verrill (1873) [DISTRIBUTION: North-western Atlantic. NOMENCLATURE: Verrill (1873) according to Waller (2011), Verrill (1893) according to Coan et al. (2000).]. It is extant. It is the type species of Cyclopecten.

It was recombined as Cyclopecten pustulosus by Sykes et al. (1898), Spencer et al. (2004) and Waller (2011).
