Natica chiloensis was named by Philippi (1887) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Chile, Argentina.].

It was recombined as Polinices chiloensis by Ihering (1907) and Chiesa et al. (1995); it was recombined as Neverita chiloensis by Frassinetti (2001).
