Dyeria was named by Ulrich and Scofield (1897) [Sepkoski's age data: O Ashg S Ludl Sepkoski's reference number: 797]. It is not extant. Its type is Cyrtolites costatus.

It was reranked as Cyclonema (Dyeria) by Knight et al. (1960).

It was assigned to Trochonematidae by Ulrich and Scofield (1897); to Cyclonema by Knight et al. (1960); to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Platyceratidae by Wagner (2023).
