Eucochlis was named by Knight (1933) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-u P Leon Sepkoski's reference number: 797,896]. It is the type genus of Eucochlidae.
It was assigned to Elasmonematidae by Knight et al. (1960); to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eucochlidae by Bandel (2002) and Bouchet et al. (2005).
