Guizhouia was named by Yin and Yochelson (1983) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis Tr Ladi-u Sepkoski's reference number: 115,1130].

It was assigned to Turbinidae by Yin and Yochelson (1983); and to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).

Shell broad and low, base flattened and little inclined, these two surfaces joining at a broad keel or flange. Periphery bearing triangular-shaped jagged incipient spines. Body whorl bearing spiral ornamament.
