Himantonia was named by Perner (1911) [Sepkoski's age data: D Sieg Sepkoski's reference number: 362]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Platyceratidae by Knight et al. (1960); and to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
