Taxonomy
Streptacis piercei was named by Erwin (1988). Its type specimen is AMNH 429236, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is AMNH678, Cutoff Mountain, Guadalupe Mountains, which is in a Kungurian slope limestone in the Cutoff Formation of Texas.
