Taxonomy
Girtyspira yodai was named by Erwin (1988) [for the Jedi Master.]. Its type specimen is USMN 400692, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM710d, Lenox Hills, Glass Mountains, which is in a Kungurian marine limestone in the Cathedral Mountain Formation of Texas.
