Kinkaidia was named by Thein and Nitecki (1974) [Sepkoski's age data: C Serp Sepkoski's reference number: 797]. It is not extant. Its type is Kinkaidia cancellata.

It was assigned to Trochonematidae by Thein and Nitecki (1974); to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Microdomatidae by Wagner (2023).
