Taxonomy
Malletia gracilis was named by Wilckens (1905).

It was recombined as Neilo (Australoneilo) gracilis by Darragh (1994); it was recombined as Australoneilo gracilis by Zinsmeister and Macellari (1988), Stiwell (1994) and Stilwell et al. (2004).
