Taxonomy
Garateastrea bardanegrensis was named by Morsch (1996). Its type locality is Barda Negra sud, Neuquen, Argentina, which is in a Bajocian marginal marine sandstone in the Lajas Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Garateastrea.
