Lamellospira was named by Batten (1958) [Sepkoski's age data: P Sakm P Guad-l Sepkoski's reference number: 109,797]. Its type is Lamellospira conica.

It was assigned to Phymatopleuridae by Kulas and Batten (1997); and to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
