Tudiclidae was named by Cossmann (1901) [Ammended by Finlay and Marwick (1937).]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Volutacea by Squires (1984) and Squires (1987); to Muricacea by Saul (1988) and Stilwell (1993); and to Muricoidea by Stilwell et al. (2004).
