Dinosorex engesseri was named by Rabeder (1998). It is not extant. Its type specimen is NHMW 1998z/0046/0001/23 M1 sup. sin., a tooth. Its type locality is Götzendorf, which is in a MN 9 terrestrial horizon in Austria.
