Paleopsephaea nodoprosta was named by Stilwell et al. (2004) [TYPE LOCALITY: Seymour Island, Antarctica; Sobral Fm (Early Paleocene, Danian).]. Its type specimen is USNM 511889 and is not a trace fossil.
