Taxonomy
Leda semiteres was named by Hutton (1877) [TYPE LOCALITY: McCulloch's Bridge, South Island, New Zealand. TYPE REPOSITORY: Otago Museum, New Zealand].

It was recombined as Nuculana (Saccella) semiteres by Finlay (1926) and Fleming (1950); it was recombined as Nuculana semiteres by Allan (1926); it was recombined as Saccella semiteres by Hutton (1877), Fleming (1966), Beu and Maxwell (1990) and Maxwell (1992).
