Taxonomy
Arca glycymeris was named by Linnaeus (1758) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Northern Atlantic; Europe.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Pectunculus glycymeris by Wood (1850) and Jeffreys (1869); it was recombined as Glycymeris (Glycymeris) glycymeris by Jung (1965); it was recombined as Glycymeris glycymeris by da Costa (1778) and Spencer et al. (2004).
