Taxonomy
Mytilus tichanovitchi was named by Makiyama (1934) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Early Miocene; Japan-Sakhalin, western Kamchatka.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Mytilus (Tumidimytilus) tichanovitchi by Kafanov et al. (2001); it was recombined as Mytilus (Mytilus) tichanovitchi by Kafanov and Ogasawara (2003).
