It was assigned to Neognathae by Wetmore (1960); to Coliiformes by Mayr (2005); to Trogonomorphae by Livezey and Zusi (2007); to Aves by Lambrecht (1933), Kristoffersen (2002) and del Hoyo et al. (2014); and to Eucavitaves by Mayr (2022).
