Xenusia was named by Dzik and Krumbiegel (1989). It was considered polyphyletic by Smith and Ortega-Hernández (2014).

It was assigned to Lobopodia by Skovsted (2006); and to Panarthropoda by Smith and Ortega-Hernández (2014).
