Taxonomy
Mytilus frons was named by Linnaeus (1758). It is extant.

It was recombined as Ostrea frons by Richards et al. (1969) and De Buisonjé (1974); it was recombined as Lopha frons by Woodring (1982); it was recombined as Dendostrea frons by Rosenberg (2005).
