Chama arcinella was named by Linnaeus (1767) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Caribbean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Echinochama arcinella by Fischer (1887), Woodring (1925) and Mansfield (1932); it was recombined as Arcinella arcinella by Perrilliat and Flores-Guerrero (2011).
