Marginella ovuliformis was named by d'Orbigny (1842) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Caribbean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Cypraeolina ovuliformis by Woodring (1928); it was recombined as Gibberulina ovuliformis by DuBar (1962); it was recombined as Granulina ovuliformis by Hendy et al. (2008).
