Pleurotomaria (Pleurorima) was named by Perner (1907) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl-l D Fras Sepkoski's reference number: 362,1197]. Its type is Pleurorima migrans.

It was reranked as Pleurorima by Knight et al. (1960), Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Pleurotomaria by Perner (1907); to Planozonides by Knight et al. (1960); and to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
