Mangilia psila was named by Bush (1885) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; SE United States.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Ithycythara.

It was recombined as Ithycythara psila by Woodring (1928), Woodring (1970) and Hendy et al. (2008).

Synonyms
  • Ithycythara kellumi was named by Fargo (1953) [TYPE LOCALITY: Pliocene of North St. Petersburg, Florida MAX. SIZE: 7.1 mm]. It is extant.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Ithycythara psila by Rosenberg (2005).
