Taxonomy
Porcellia was named by Léveillé (1835) [Sepkoski's age data: D Sieg C Mosc-u Sepkoski's reference number: 797]. It is the type genus of Porcelliinae.
It was assigned to Porcelliidae by Knight et al. (1960) and Blodgett and Johnson (1992); to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Porcelliinae by Frýda (1997) and Bouchet et al. (2005).
