Taxonomy
Eriphioidea was named by MacLeay (1838). It is extant. Its type is Eriphia.

It was synonymized subjectively with Heterotremata by Karasawa and Schweitzer (2006).

It was assigned to Eubrachyura by Ahyong et al. (2007); and to Heterotremata by Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Luque et al. (2017).
