Cancellaria candeana was named by d'Orbigny (1842). It is extant. It is the type species of Antillophos, Antillophos (Antillophos).
It was corrected as Cancellaria candei by d'Orbigny (1847); it was recombined as Antillophos candei by Woodring (1957); it was recombined as Antillophos (Antillophos) candei by Woodring (1964); it was recombined as Antillophos candeanus by Rosenberg (2005).
