Taxonomy
Tetoniidae was named by Abel (1931). It is not extant. Its type is Tetonius.

It was considered an invalid subgroup of Anaptomorphidae by Simpson (1940); it was reranked as the tribe Tetoniina by Szalay (1976).

It was assigned to Anaptomorphinae by Szalay (1976).
