Stylohelia was named by Fromentel (1861) [Synonym of Stylina (Heliocoenia) according to Treatise].

It was synonymized subjectively with Psammohelia by Baron-Szabo (2002).

It was assigned to Scleractinia by Rosendahl (1985); and to Stylinidae by Kiessling (2014).
