Straparollus similis was named by Meek and Worthen (1862). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Straparollus (Euomphalus) similis by Yochelson and Saunders (1967); it was recombined as Euomphalus similis by Girty (1915) and Wagner (2023).
