Taxonomy
Rimula was named by Defrance (1827) [Sepkoski's age data: K u R]. It is extant. Its type is Rimula blainvilli. It is the type genus of Rimulidae.

It was assigned to Rimulidae by Anton (1838); to Emarginulidae by Wilson (1993); to Emarginulinae by Knight et al. (1960) and Pacaud and Le Renard (1995); to Fissurellidae by Gardner (1947), Ladd (1966), Ladd (1982) and Todd (2001); to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Emarginulini by Bouchet et al. (2005).
