Myotis elegans was named by Baudelot (1972). It is not extant. Its type specimen is MNHN Sa 13630, a mandible (Fragment dex. with p4 and alveoles of c-p3).

S. Baudelot 1972Vespertilionidé de petite taille possédant trois prémolaires, la dernière étant biradiculée. Cette p4, plus élancée que celle de Myotis murinoides, est munie d'un cingulum sur tout le pourtour, doté d'une cuspide mésiale interne. Le cingulum distal forme un rebord un peu détaché de la base de la couronne. Le foramen mentonnier, de grande taille, est situé sous le septum qui sépare la canine et la prémolaire antérieure.
