Pseudorhinolophus was named by Schlosser (1877). It is not extant.

It was reranked as Hipposideros (Pseudorhinolophus) by Schlosser (1887) and Ravel et al. (2016).

It was assigned to Chiroptera by Schlosser (1877); to Hipposiderini by Hand and Kirsch (2003); to Hipposideridae by Harrison and Hooker (2010); and to Hipposideros by Schlosser (1887) and Ravel et al. (2016).
