Seguenzia was named by Jeffreys (1876) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo R]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Seguenziidae, Seguenzioidea, Seguenziinae.
It was assigned to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Seguenziinae by Verrill (1884) and Bouchet et al. (2005); and to Seguenziidae by Ladd (1982), Wilson (1993), Todd (2001) and Bandel (2010).
