Sinezona was named by Finlay (1927) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 559]. It is extant. Its type is Scissurella brevis.
It was assigned to Scissurellidae by Ladd (1972), Ladd (1982), Wilson (1993) and Lozouet (1998); to Scissurellinae by Lozouet et al. (2001); and to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
