Marginella (Serrata) eurystoma was named by Gardner (1947). Its type specimen is USNM 328697, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USGS Loc. 3419 - McClelland Farm [Chipola Fm], which is in a Burdigalian marine marl/sandstone in the Chipola Formation of Florida.
