Trajana was named by Gardner (1948) [Sepkoski's age data: T Plio Sepkoski's reference number: 909].

It was synonymized subjectively with Hindsia by Olsson (1967).

It was assigned to Muricidae by Gardner (1948); to Nassariidae by Vokes (1969) and Todd (2001); to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Nassariinae by Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
