Proscapanus intercedens was named by Ziegler (1985). It is not extant. Its type specimen is BSP 1976 XXII 3173, a mandible (Mandible dex. with p1 and p3-m2).

R. Ziegler 1985Kleine Art von Proscapanus mit vergrößertem C inf., vier zweiwurzeligen p inf., die von oral nach aboral an röße zunehmen; p4 mit Metaconidknospe. Crista obliqua der m inf. vereinigt sich mit Metacristid. P4 mit umscheinbarem Protoconus und deutlichem, zwischen den Wurzeln aufgewölbtem Ectocingulid. Mesostyl der M sup. schwach gesplaten; Parastyl nicht prominent; Humerus morphologisch wie P. sansaniensis, nur kleiner.
