Taxonomy
Trypanocochlea was named by Tomlin (1931) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon-u Tr Nori Sepkoski's reference number: 797,1130]. It is not extant. Its type is Verania cerithioides.

It was assigned to Murchisoniidae by Knight et al. (1960); to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Goniasmatidae by Nützel and Nakazawa (2012); and to Cheilotomoninae by Nützel and Karapunar (2023).
