Taxonomy
Cardita scabricostata was named by Guppy (1866) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene; Bowden Fm; Jamaica]. Its type specimen is BMNH 64087, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Venericardia scabricostata by Dall (1903) and Olsson (1922); it was recombined as Cardita (Glans) scabricostata by Woodring (1925) and Anderson (1929).
