Taxonomy
Cardita perplana was named by Dall (1903) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene; Western Atlantic]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Venericardia (Pteromeris) perplana by Dall (1902) and Dall (1903); it was recombined as Glans (Pteromeris) perplana by Gardner (1943); it was recombined as Cardita (Pteromeris) perplana by DuBar (1958); it was recombined as Pteromeris perplana by Hendy et al. (2008).
