Plesiosaurus hesternus
Taxonomy
Plesiosaurus hesternus was named by Welles (1953). Its type specimen is UCMP 41599, a set of vertebrae, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Oakley Ranch (UCMP V4958), which is in a Tithonian marine shale in the "Franciscan-Knoxville shales" Formation of California.
