Taxonomy
Brochidium was named by Koken (1889) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad Tr Nori Sepkoski's reference number: 109,797,1066]. Its type is Ceratites cingulatus. It is the type genus of Brochidinae.

It was assigned to Brochidinae by Yochelson (1956); to Craspedostomatidae by Knight et al. (1960); to Architaenoglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Brochidiinae by Bouchet et al. (2005).
