Kayentapus minor

Taxonomy
Gigantitherium minus was named by Hitchcock (1858). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is AC 1/3, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Lily Pond Quarry, Gill, which is in a Hettangian fluvial-lacustrine siltstone/sandstone in the Turners Falls Formation of Massachusetts.

It was recombined as Apatichnus minus by Lull (1904); it was recombined as Apatichnus minor by Lull (1915), Lull (1917), Hay (1930), Lull (1953), Kuhn (1963), Haubold (1969), Haubold (1971) and Weems (1987); it was recombined as Kayentapus minor by Weems (1992), Irby (1996), Mietto et al. (2000), Weems (2006), Weems (2006), Weems et al. (2007), Milner et al. (2009), Li et al. (2010), Xing et al. (2011), Lockley et al. (2011), Petti et al. (2011), Xing et al. (2015), Wagensommer et al. (2016), Sciscio et al. (2017) and Peng et al. (2023).
