Taxonomy
Nassa trivittata was named by Say (1822) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Pliocene-Recent; Massachusetts-Florida, Great Britain, Iceland.]. It is extant. Its type specimen is ANSP 16472, a shell.

It was recombined as Buccinum trivittatum by Holmes (1858); it was recombined as Nassarius (Hinia) trivittatus by Abbott (1954) and Spencer and Campbell (1987); it was recombined as Nassarius trivittatus by Richards (1962); it was recombined as Ilyanassa trivittata by Hendy et al. (2008).
