Taxonomy
Bulla obtusa was named by Montagu (1808) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Pliocene-Recent; Greenland, Great Britain-Florida. TYPE: Syntypes.]. It is extant. Its type specimen is RAMM 4073-4087, a shell.

It was recombined as Retusa obtusa by Abbott (1954), Spencer and Campbell (1987) and Hendy et al. (2008).
