Taxonomy
Oliva mutica was named by Say (1822) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Pliocene-Recent; New Jersey-circum-Caribbean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Olivella (Dactylidia) mutica by Cossmann (1899), Olsson and Harbison (1953), Olsson (1956) and DuBar (1958); it was recombined as Olivella mutica by Dall (1890), Abbott (1954), Richards (1962), Spencer and Campbell (1987) and Petuch and Roberts (2007).
