Amauropsina was named by Chelot (1885) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m-l T Ol-l; Bayle in Chelot 1885.].

It was assigned to Polinicinae by Glibert (1963) and Pacaud and Le Renard (1995); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Naticidae by Sacco (1891), Abbass (1967) and Global Biodiversity Information Facility (2015).
