Polinices (Neverita) chipolanus was named by Dall (1892) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Florida.]. Its type specimen is USNM 112870, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Neverita chipolanus by Hendy et al. (2008).
